Anyone used the ASA Virtual Test Prep DVDs? I'm working on my IFR
written and looking for an easier way to study for my written.

Try http://faatest.com/. I did my private, instrument, and commercial with
Adrian's software and scored 97, 100, and 94%.

The Jepp test discs are good, too, used in conjunction with faatest.com.

I used this too and it helped me get 97% in both the private and instrument
tests.

On the other hand if the software was no good then I am naturally gifted and
talented.

How did you use it for studying? I have it and it seems mainly geared
towards using after doing some sort of ground school?

I don't know what you have. The software begins with a page where you tell it
what kind of test (Private, Instrument ... Parachute Rigger ... etc.) then the
next screen IIRC allows you to pick the number and type of questions you want,
then it just starts giving them to you and keeping score. After you've answered
a question, you can go back and the explanation for the answer will be given to
you. If there's anything to criticize it is the large number of options you
must choose from in deciding what questions you want to be drilled on.

Adrian does call the product "Ground School" but it is really just software to
drill you on the questions. He is pretty responsive to emails if you have
questions but he has been going to grad school in England, so the Zulu time
difference applies. Sometimes, too, he has to relay questions to the technical
guys responsible for a specific area and that takes a little time. But for
operational questions he is The Man.
